We had a fun, & at times, adventurous vacation. Street signs were basically non-existent, so following the GPS was interesting. We got lost a few times, but always found our way "home." Driving around was interesting & eventful at times, for you never knew what the drivers around you were going to do. The places we visited were interesting, beautiful & amazing. Old San Juan was a great place to roam around & investigate the old forts & shops.

El Yunque Rain Forest | We visited the El Yunque (yun-KAY) rain forest two times. The second time we were kinda lost & ended up entering the rain forest from the other side. That was very interesting with many beautiful vistas the higher we got into the mountains. To view this gallery use this link: http://drmrsy.smugmug.com/Vacation/Puerto-Rico/El-Yunque-Rain-Forest/ |

Old San Juan City & Forts
turned into strong winds!
The two forts we visited took you back to the 1500-1800s. The forts are called Castles. The forts were used by the military in WWII. The forts were de-commissioned in 1961 & the US made them parks & historical sites. These forts are also UN historical sites.
The two forts are Castillo San Cristobal (St. Christopher) & Castillo de San Felipe del Morro (El Morro). El Morro is the older of the two forts by 200 years. Amazing history.
